Managing paper documents and information through the litigation process can be a daunting and arduous task. With the use of litigation support software it has become more efficient to scan paper documents, converting them into images that are accessible on computers. Scanning paper documents also assists with protecting original documents from damage or degradation as a result of repeated handling or duplication.
Once a document has been scanned and is accessible as a text file, it can then be searched for specific text or information eliminating
the need to spend hours searching through paper files. A document’s description can also be managed within specially designed litigation software to allow for image linking, increased searching capabilities, document duplication and electronic data sharing.
Document Scanning
PLG provides production level scanning of black & white or coloured pages for typical letter sized documents and can
accommodate oversized documents. We specialize in outputting to popular formats such as Summation, Concordance,
JFS, RingTail, Adobe, (and many others) to support the effective use of your litigation support software.
PLG’s use of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Optical Word Recognition (OWR) when a document is scanned
means the resulting images are converted into searchable text files, allowing for easy searching of document content.
This is particularly helpful where certain key words or phrases need to be identified, tracked and managed.
On-site Document Scanning
When the sensitivity, nature, and location of documents make sending them out for scanning impossible, PLG provides
an on-site document scanning service called a Mobile Litigation Support Unit (MLSU). Our team of trained staff will provide
for your litigation support needs on-site. This service is available nationally and internationally.
Document Preparation
PLG takes the utmost care of your documents prior to, during and after the scanning process. Qualified staff ensure that documents are
disassembled (paperclips, staples etc. are removed) and reassembled using a variety of quality control steps throughout the entire process.
